He may not yet be a household name in the entertainment industry, but this Asian-American actor Charles Melton has received much acclaim for his portrayal of iconic Reggie in the CW series Riverdale.
Charles made his first appearance in the second season of the series as Reggie Mantle, replacing Ross Butler in that role. However, he had already been in the media before his role in the series. The man is also a professional model and a hit target for advertisements.

The famous actor in the television series Riverdale was born on January 4, 1991, in Juneau, Alaska. However, he grew up in Manhattan, Kansas. Charles Melton is the son of Phil Melton (father) and Sukyong Melton (mother), and he has a sister, Tammie Melton.
Melton is of mixed ethnic origin. He is not only of Asian-American descent but also of Korean and Caucasian descent. Part of his growing family is his nephew, Sean.
Charles attended Kansas State University, where he played soccer in Division 1 for 2 years. However, he left the university to pursue an acting career and was discovered at the Applause Rising Talent Showcase (ARTS) in Orlando, Florida.
Career
During New York Fashion Week 2012 he made his modeling debut as a walking model for Park & Ronen and VLOVNew. Since then he has participated in the Dolce & Gabbana Lookbook and was also featured on the cover of Prestige magazine.
He made his acting debut as a male model in the fifth season and episode 14 (New New York) of the television show Glee (2014). His television contributions include American Horror Story: Hotel (2011), where he played the short role of Mr. Wu and Reggie in CW’s Riverdale (2016).

Charles Melton was found to be the perfect replacement for Ross in the key role of Reggie from the series’ second season after he (Ross) left the series to concentrate on his role in Netflix’s 13 Reason Why. Of course, he met the creator’s (Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa) criteria for the role; sexy and funny. The role is considered to be his greatest role to date.
As is to be expected anyway, Charles was dealing with online hate when he got the role of Reggie, but he decided not to react to it, because he expected it, given the fact that it is an iconic character. Such comments and reactions should come one way or another; whether you’re okay or not, he thought about it and decided not to let it worry him in the least.
Reggie’s fans were thrilled that the first one was replaced by another Asian actor, as they loved the variety of the character. His character as a loud-mouthed high school bully could not have been portrayed better.
Charles portrayed Colin in his film debut, the 2015 short film Bad Friend. He has also appeared in other films, including “Face Without Eyes” (2015) as Doc and “The Channel” (2016) as Chris. His most recent role is that of Cage, a supporting role in the 2018 action film The Thinning: New World Order, starring Logan Paul.
