Learn more about them below.
Who is Gretchen Wilson?
Gretchen Wilson is a Grammy-winning American country music artist, songwriter, and singer; best known for her hit albums such as All Jacked Up and Here for the Party. She was born on June 26, 1973, as Gretchen Frances Wilson in Pocahontas, Illinois in the United States. She began singing at a very young age and had a difficult childhood experience. Her father left home when she was just two years old and left her alone with her mother. Life became so hard for her that her mother had to do several jobs to make ends meet. They both lived one after the other in trailer parks, while her mother worked in a bar. Wilson also dropped out of school in ninth grade to concentrate on her music career.
As a teenager, Wilson worked as a bartender and cook and as a lead singer for various band groups in her neighborhood to earn extra money. After a few years, she moved to Nashville where she continued to sing and work in a club to pay her bills for about four years. She joined an informal band group called the Muzik Mafia. There she met John Rich, with whom she later wrote her debut single, Redneck Woman.
Music Career and Rise to Fame
Wilson auditioned for Epic Records Nashville in 2003 and was later signed to the label. While there, she released her debut single, Redneck Woman, in early 2004. The song became a commercial success, conquering the Hot Country song charts and reaching #22 on the Billboard Hot 100. Following the immediate success of Redneck Woman, Wilson released her first music album, Here for the Party, the same year. The album sold over five million copies, earning Wilson a Grammy Award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance, the CMA Horizon Award, the ACM Top New Artist, and the ACM Top Female Vocalist Award.
The following year, Wilson released another hit album, All Jacked Up, which climbed to number one on the Billboard 200 music charts and sold over a million copies in the United States alone. The album also enjoyed great popularity and was nominated for several Grammys. After that, Gretchen Wilson continued to pull the strings in the American music industry. She released more hit singles and albums such as One of the Boys in 2007, I Got Your Country Right Here in 2010, Right on Time, Under the Covers and Christmas in My Heart in 2013, and Ready to Get Rowdy in 2017, and has collaborated with other artists including Shania Twain, Merle Haggard, Kris Kristofferson, and Ann Wilson, to name a few.
Net Worth: How Much is Gretchen Wilson Worth?
The award-winning rock star has had great success since the beginning of her music career. She is one of the most successful female country music artists. Gretchen Wilson currently lives a wasteful lifestyle with a net worth of $4 million. She earns her net worth through album sales, music shows, and other ventures. She recently signed an endorsement contract for her country singer John Rich’s Redneck Riviera Whiskey in early 2018.
Gretchen Wilson’s Husband
Wilson was briefly married to former band member and guitarist Larry Rolens. Their marriage did not last long before they broke up and the two went separate ways. Wilson also began another relationship with Mike Penner, with whom he has a daughter named Grace Frances Penner. The couple began their relationship in 1996 and welcomed his daughter Grace on November 9, 2000.
However, after nine years in a romantic relationship, the two decided to go their separate ways in 2005. They were granted the same custody of their daughter. Apparently,
Wilson is currently single and is not in a known relationship at this time.
What Happened To Her?
On August 21, 2018, Gretchen Wilson was arrested at Bradley International Airport in Windsor. The star of Redneck Woman traveled from Washington D.C. to Connecticut. Her arrest was reportedly the result of a disruption in the flight. Wilson had an outburst with a fellow passenger who was in the restroom when she tried to use the restroom.
However, when they returned to their seat, the two continued to exchange threatening gestures before being reassured by the flight attendants. Arriving at the airport, she was received by the state police and charged with second-degree breach of peace. Wilson posted $1000 bail before her show at the Mohegan Sun Casino.
The country music star was scheduled to appear at the Enfield Superior Court; however, her case was postponed until next month. Surprisingly, this is not the first time Wilson has faced such problems at the airport. In October 2007, the pop star was quoted on a trip from Nashville to Los Angeles during the flight.
In the meantime, a music tour is scheduled for September 2018. Wilson will perform for the first time on September 1 and September 8 at the Zucchini Festival in Ohio; she would be in action at the Soybean Festival in Tennessee.
