Bam Adebayo, whose birth name is Edrice Femi Adebayo, was born on July 18, 1997, in Newark, New Jersey, but grew up in Pinetown, North Carolina. His name “Bam” is a nickname given to him by his mother Marilyn Blount at the age of 1 year after he turned over a table, as the character Bamm-Bamm Rubble from the series The Flintstones would do. Bam Adebayo’s mother Marilyn is said to have worked very hard as a cashier to provide for her son. Adebayo announced on April 5, 2017, that he will participate in the 2017 NBA 2017 draft, and on June 22, 2017, he was selected by the Miami Heat with the 14th overall selection in the draft.
