Bam Adebayo Biography
Bam Adebayo, whose birth name is Edrice Femi Adebayo, was born on July 18, 1997, in Newark, New Jersey, but grew up in Pinetown, North Carolina. His name “Bam” is a nickname given to him by his mother Marilyn Blount at the age of 1 year after he turned over a table, as the character Bamm-Bamm Rubble from the series The Flintstones would do. Bam Adebayo’s mother Marilyn is said to have worked very hard as a cashier to provide for her son. Although his father’s name is said to be Josh Adebayo, he did not play an active role in raising Adebayo. Adebayo’s high school education took place at the North Side High School in North Carolina.
Since Adebayo grew up so quickly for his age, it was no surprise that the 13-year-old, who was 6’5″ as a teenager, would become a good NBA player, which is why he started playing basketball in 2010. His high school records show that he averaged 32.2 points and 18 rebounds in his junior year, while as a senior at High Point Christian Academy he scored 18.9 points and 13 rebounds. Bam Adebayo is said to have led his high school to the NCISAA State Championship in his senior year. Adebayo was enrolled at the University of Kentucky on November 17, 2015, where he played impressively for the Kentucky Wildcats for one season. He made his debut for the team on December 7, 2016, when Adebayo scored 16 points and rebounded 7 times in a victorious game against the Valparaiso Crusaders. The experienced player improved his results the following year on February 21, 2017, when he scored 22 points and 15 rebounds in his team’s 72-62 win over the Missouri Tigers. The following month, Bam Adebayo made 9 rebounds in the game against the Arkansas team that produced the Wildcats to win the SEC championship. His outstanding performance continued in the following games, and it is said that he played for Kentucky in 38 games, averaging 13 points, 8 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks in one game.
Adebayo announced on April 5, 2017, that he will participate in the 2017 NBA 2017 draft, and on June 22, 2017, he was selected by the Miami Heat with the 14th overall selection in the draft. His contract was finalized and signed on July 1, 2017, and this year he was in the NBA Summer League. Bam Adebayo would also play in the NBA Summer League again in June 2018.
