Gage Golightly, formerly known as Gage Stevens, was born on September 5, 1993, as the youngest of four children (1 sister and 2 brothers) from parents who were medical professionals (her mother – a nurse and her father – a doctor).
She grew up in Penn Valley, California, and attended Laurel Hall Middle School and the private Catholic High School for Girls, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy in La Cañada Flintridge, California.
As expected, Golightly’s parents had hoped she would pursue a career in the medical field, but the beautiful actress had always had her eyes on the performing arts. As a young girl, she loved dancing and theater and took various training courses ranging from tap dancing to ballet, jazz, hip-hop, ice skating, cross-country biking, and just about everything else!

Gage had dreamed of becoming an actress from the beginning and was already sure of it at the age of eight. The actress, who credited her parents with setting the stage for her professional success, insisted on pursuing her acting dreams to such an extent that her mother decided it was time to discover the young Golightly.
When the rest of her siblings were out of the house one day, she and her mother went to Los Angeles one day but left her father behind in California to continue earning money for the family.
In L.A. they literally stayed in a hotel across the street from the Burbank airport and sat outside waiting for someone to mention something that had to do with acting.

As a child, Golightly suffered from dyslexia and apraxia (CAS), a neurological speech disorder in which children have difficulty in planning and programming the complex movements that underlie speech production. She was diagnosed with dyspraxia at the age of 2 years and remained fairly close to the non-verbal speech disorder until the age of 6 years.
Her therapists and parents used only sign language to communicate with her. Therefore, the primary school years were quite hard for her, as the children were very mean and she was harassed a lot because of the lack of verbal commutation and general clumsiness. While other children in kindergarten could speak well, she still used sign language and in school, it didn’t really click for her until eighth grade.
Nevertheless, Golightly, who already knew that she wanted to be an actress before she could speak, has meanwhile grown from this non-verbal child to an accomplished actress. Thanks to the dedication of her parents and teachers she was able to speak and now uses words every day to tell stories on the screen.
