Jade Mccarthy Biography

Not so much Jade Mccarthy’s personal data as her background and early life are available online, but what can be found out shows that the talented presenter was born on July 20, 1980, in Newton, Massachusetts, grew up near Boston and attended Mount Holyoke College.

ESPN Career

McCarthy began her career at WGGB-TV before moving to WAFF (a member organization of WGGB-TV) based in Huntsville, Alabama. She then worked as a sports presenter for WCAU Philadelphia, winning numerous notable sports and Emmy awards.

She joined NESN in early 2010 as a part-time reporter and presenter for SportsDesk. After SportDesk was no longer aired, Jade began hosting the NESN Daily. She had to move from Philadelphia and leave NESN in 2011 when her husband got a new job.

After several months of not sitting in front of the TV, McCarthy returned to what she does best in 2012; this time ESPN was hosting SportsCenter. After almost 5 years at ESPN, Jade was fired. She was one of about 100 people who were fired by the organization.

In a message to ESPN employees, the station’s president, John Skipper, reported that the company’s decision was its way of repositioning itself for the future and not a mandate from its parent company Disney, as many speculated. Other popular faces that were affected were Adam Caplan, Marc Stein, Andrew Brandt, Sara Walsh, and many others.

Dissatisfied with the channel’s decision, some fans used social media to petition for ESPN to rehire Jade alongside their favorite faces like Jaymee and Sara, but the petition did not get enough support as any of them have yet to be rehired.

Jade’s dismissal came at the time she was expecting her third baby. In her first speech after her release, Jade MacCarthy tweeted that she was proud of the time she spent at ESPN, the people she worked with and expressed that she had a brilliant career ahead of her.

McCarthy was one of the brains behind ESPN’s biggest stories, and according to her, one of her best times at ESPN was the story of Aaron Hernandez’s murder allegations.

There is no news yet that Jade has gotten a new job, but she might consider a new passion for animation and creating content for children, following in the footsteps of Martellus Bennett, who seems to have found something new for himself after his retirement in March 2018.
