Chung attended Lowell High School and then the University of California, Riverside, where she graduated with a B.A. in Economics in 2005.
Before graduating from university, she worked in two jobs – one of them in a sports bar – to put herself through school. In 2004, MTV knocked on her door when they were holding auditions for her Real World show at the sports bar where she worked.
