Jorge Ramos is a renowned Mexican-American journalist, television presenter, and celebrated author; best known as the only Spanish-speaking news anchor in the United States. Ramos is currently the host of the Univision Network program called Noticiero Univision; and the Fusion Network program known as America with Jorge Ramos. Ramos has received eight Emmy Awards and the Maria Moors Cabot Prize for his outstanding journalistic achievements.

Ramos Avalos was born as Jorn Gilberto Ramos Avalos in Mexico City and first entered this world on March 16, 1958. He was born into a Roman Catholic nuclear family and attended Catholic schools in Mexico. His father worked as an architect, and he grew up with his other siblings in Naucalpan, Mexico City. He received his bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City and his master’s degree in International Studies from the University of Miami, Florida.

Jorge Ramos Journalism Career

After graduating, Jorge joined XEW-TV in Mexico, where he began his journalistic career. After producing a story of importance to the Mexican government, Ramos quit his job at XEW-TV. He also used a student visa to move to Los Angeles, California in 1983. The following year Ramos joined the subsidiary of the Spanish International Network (SIN) called KMEX-TV. He later became the host of the morning show called Mundo Latino. In search of a more challenging environment, Ramos joined the national operation of the Spanish International Network, known as Univision, in 1985. Together with Maria Elena Salinas, Ramos hosted a late-night Spanish language program called Noticiero Univision from 1986 until today. He is also the host of Al Punto and American with Jorge Ramos on television fusion.

Ramos has reported live on top global issues such as the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Gulf War, the Salvadoran Civil War, the war in Afghanistan, and the terrorist attack by al-Qaeda on September 11, 2001, among others, and has interviewed high-profile personalities such as Hugo Chavez, Fidel Castro, Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush, and many others.

Jorge Ramos also represented the Univision network during the 2012 US presidential debate between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney. Similarly, he also reported in detail on the 2016 US presidential race between President Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.

Family: Wife and Kids

As we have already mentioned, Jorge Ramos comes from a core Catholic family, his father worked as an architect and he was born and raised in Mexico City. However, he never shared information about his mother and other siblings. He spent twenty-five years of his life in Mexico before moving to the United States. During his stay in the United States, he received his citizenship in 2008.

While he enjoys a flourishing career as a journalist, he has not been so favored in terms of his love life. He has been married twice, his first marriage was with Gina Montaner, whom he met in the late 1980s. She is the daughter of the exiled Cuban author Carlos Alberto Montaner. Their marriage ended in 1999 and they had a daughter named Paola who was born in 1988. After their separation, Gina moved with her daughter to Spain.

Two years after his separation from his first wife, Ramos married Lisa Bolivar in 1992. Their wedding was celebrated in a Catholic church in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He and his second wife had a son named Nicholas, and after thirteen years of marriage, Ramos and Bolivar went their separate ways in 2005. Next, he had a short-lived romance with a Mexican actress named Ana de la Reguera, and after a few months, they called it a break-up.

In 2011, Jorge Ramos began another relationship with Chiquinquira Delgado, a Venezuelan actress, and television presenter. Before their relationship, Delgado already had two daughters from their previous relationships. The couple has been together for over five years and currently lives in Miami, Florida.
