The man who bears the same name as the most famous and prestigious entertainment award, the Oscar, better known as Oscar, Oscar Nunez, is a Cuban-American actor and comedian. He is the creator and executive producer of the Comedy Central series “Halfway Home”, in which he starred in 2007 in the role of Eulogio Pla. He became more prominent with his portrayal as Oscar Martinez, the accountant for paper deliveries on the NBC show The Office.
Oscar Nunez Biography
Born on 18 November 1958 in Colon, Cuba, the son of parents who were classmates of Fidel Castro at the University of Havana. His mother was a dentist, while his father was a lawyer.
Shortly after his birth, his parents moved to migrate and moved to Venezuela and later to the United States. They moved to Boston when he was two years old, and when he was four years old, they took their son to Union City, New Jersey, where he grew up. He is bilingual in English and Spanish.
New York City is the home of the various colleges he attended. These include the Fashion Institute of Technology, the Parsons School of Design for writing, and the Magna Institute of Dental Technology, where he was certified as a dental technician. Oscar was also a member of The Groundlings (a school for improvisation and sketch comedy troupe from Los Angeles, California) and performed in their Sunday Company.

His comedy show started in New York with the theater group The Shock of the Funny, where he appeared in over 300 performances. He also performed at theaters in New York and Washington D.C. before moving to Los Angeles in the mid-1990s. There he joined the Groundlings, where he wrote and took part in a production called Smooth Down There.

Oscar Nunez attended the Warner Brothers Comedy Writer’s Workshop and graduated in 1997. As a comedy writer, he participated in competitions such as the ABC Latino Writers Project in 1999, where he was a finalist.
He appeared on the 1998 Match Gameshow but was not a winner. Oscar was a replacement on The Man Show for co-host Adam Carolla.
