Pink Biography

Her less popular birth name is Alecia Beth Moore. She was born on September 8, 1979, and is an American singer, dancer, actress, and songwriter. She was born in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, to her mother Judith Moore, and her father James Moore – an insurance salesman of German and Irish descent. James Moore was Catholic, while her mother is of Jewish descent. Alecia looked like a very healthy child at birth, but soon she developed asthmatic complications in her early years.

Pink attended high school at Central Bucks High School West. She was exposed to the marital problems of her parents, and before her 10th birthday, they were already divorced. At a very early age, Pink discovered that she had a flair for singing and joined her first band called “Middle Ground”, but the band did not last long as it soon disbanded after losing the battle of the bands.

Very early on she started to write the lyrics of her songs as well, and her mother also commented on her writings saying: “Her first writings were always very introspective. Some of them were very black and very deep, almost disturbing”.

At the age of 16, Pink and two other teenagers, Stephanie Galligan and Chrissy Conway, formed the R&B group Choice, and their first song “Key to My Heart” helped the trio get a contract with LaFace Records in Atlanta, which was co-signed by their parents as they were under the 18-year mark. Reid, who gave the group their big breakthrough, gave Pink an ultimatum, which was to go solo or go home. This ultimatum led to the Choice being dissolved in 1998.

Soon after The Choice disbanded, Pink began working on their first solo debut album alongside some outstanding producers, and soon after that, in February 2000, their album “There You Go” was released, which was their first top 10 hit in the Billboard Hot 100 charts, peaking at number 7.
