Christian Jackson McCaffrey was born in Castle Rock Colorado on June 7, 1996, the son of former Stanford receiver and NFL wide receiver Ed McCaffrey and former Stanford soccer star Lisa McCaffrey. He has three siblings, an older brother, Max, and two younger brothers – Dylan and Luke. According to his father, he began athletics at the age of three and ran around the fields trying to play soccer with his older brother.
Christian attended Valor Christian High School in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. In high school, he played basketball, was a sprinter, and also played soccer. In soccer, he played as a running back, punter, cornerback, and wide receiver breaking numerous records, which led to him being named Gatorade Soccer Player of the Year in 2012 and 2013. He was also named third best all-purpose back in his class and 77th in his category.
Christian McCaffrey NFL Career
In 2014, Christian was recruited by Stanford University to play college football on the school team. As a freshman, he played 13 games and scored 52 yards in touchdowns, finishing with 300 rushing yards in 17 receptions and two touchdowns. In the 2015 season, Christian’s performance was even more incredible when he finished second in the nation and became the first Stanford player to tackle 2000 in a single season. He received two awards: the Paul Hornung Trophy and the Player of the Year Award from the Associated Press College. He was also an All-American and Pac 12 Player of the Year.

In the 2016 season, he picked up where he left off. He led the Pac-12 with a stormy yard of 1,603. He suffered an injury that caused him to miss some of his games, but his overall performance earned him the CoSIDA Academic All-American of the Year.
At the end of the year, Christian decided to skip a tournament game to prepare for his pre-draft training. He was criticized for giving up his responsibilities on the team. Most of his fans were disappointed because they expected him to wait until the end of the season, which he did not. In his preliminary draft, he was involved in positional exercises and was ranked second-best running back by NFL scouts and representatives in the draft.
In May 2017 he signed a four-year contract with the Carolina Panthers worth $17.2 million. His contract with them includes additional bonuses worth approximately $10.7 million. The 2017 season began with Christian playing his first game against the San Francisco 49ers, in which he recorded 47 rushing yards and 38 receiving yards. Christian McCaffrey’s father, Ed McCaffrey, who was the head coach at Valor Christian High School, was also a college footballer at Stanford University and played professional football as a wide receiver from 1991-2003. He is 1.82 meters and 5 centimeters tall. During his NFL draft, Ed McCaffrey was selected in round three as the 83rd overall New York Giants candidate.
In his thirteen long years, he played for three teams, including the New York Giants, the San Francisco 49ers, and the Denver Broncos. Christian is considered a third-generation athlete because his maternal grandfather, Dave Sime, was an Olympic medalist. He was an unbeatable sprinter when he was still breaking world records. At the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome, he won a gold medal in the 100-meter race and a silver medal in the same disciplines.
His uncle, Billy McCaffrey, played basketball at Duke University and twice became All American. Immediately after his retirement, Billy received an internship at Bonaventure University as an assistant coach that lasted two years. Since then he has been working as a coach.
His maternal uncle, Scott Sime, also played soccer at Duke University from 1981 to 1986.

Christian McCaffrey’s girlfriend is Brooke Pettet. She was born on February 25, 1995, in Orange, California. Brooke holds a Bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from Arizona State University. In 2017, she became a digital media intern at Fox Sports in Phoenix, Arizona, and a recruiting officer at Kappa Alpha Theta headquarters in Arizona.
