Colin Farrell Biography
Colin James Farrell, born on 31 May 1976 in Castleknock, Dublin, Ireland, comes from a family of athletes. His father, Eamon Farrell, was a professional footballer and played for Shamrock Rovers FC. His uncle, Tommy Farrell, also played for the same club.
Colin Farrell’s siblings include an older brother named Eamon, Jr., and two younger sisters, Claudine and Catherine. Their mother is Rita (née Monaghan).
In his early years, Colin thought he would follow his father’s path, but he was more attracted to entertainment. He tried his hand unsuccessfully at the Irish boy band Boyzone before Henry Thomas’s appearance in 1982 in E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial inspired him to consider acting. Farrell attended the Gaiety School of Acting, but he dropped out after his first professional appearance in the BBC drama Ballykissangel.
A few years after beginning his acting career, Farrell received his first prize, a Boston Society of Film Critics award, for his first leading role in Tigerland. For the 2008 film “In Bruges” he received the Golden Globe Award for the best performance of an actor in a feature film.
The net assets of Colin Farrell were estimated at $30 million. Most of his income came from his principal occupation as an actor. In the early 2000s, when Farrell was just starting out, he received seven-figure sums for a handful of films, including American Outlaws, Hart’s War, Minority Report, and others. His salary per performance rose rapidly, and by the mid-2010s he was already earning 8-figure sums. He made $10 million each for Alexander and Miami Vice. A considerable portion of his fortune is tied up in the real estate.
His Family Life – Wife, Son, and Girlfriend
Colin Farrell has had the privilege of romancing with some of the hottest women in Hollywood. He once had a playful wedding with one of his girlfriends, but the marriage was not legal, so Colin Farrell was never really married. The lady was the English actress and singer Amelia Warner, whom he met at the premiere of the film Quills in 2000. Their relationship ended in 2001, and about a decade later, details of an unlawful wedding emerged from Warner’s mouth during one of their vacations on a beach in Tahiti. It was just a moment of ecstasy.
As Farrell’s fame grew, he became romantically involved with famous names in the industry, including pop star Britney Spears, playboy cover girl Nicole Narain, model Josie Maran, and actresses Angelina Jolie, Maeve Quinlan, and Demi Moore.
Farrell’s relationship with playboy model Narain came into the spotlight in 2006, years after they broke up after Farrell sued her for distributing a 13-minute sex tape they had made without his consent in 2003. After a lengthy court case, the ex-lovers reached an amicable settlement.
Colin Farrell dated Kim Bordenave in 2003. Between 2007 and 2009 he was in a relationship with the Irish medical student Muireann McDonnell. For more than a year he loved the British-American writer Emma Forrest, before moving on to the Polish actress Alicja Bachleda-Curus, with whom he was with until mid-2010.
In late 2017, reports surfaced that Colin Farrell was occasionally in a relationship with a certain brunette named Kelly McNamara over the past two years. They were first seen on dates in early 2016 when the lady was referred to as Farrell’s mystery woman. The Irish Mirror confirmed that Kelly was working as PA for U2 guitarist The Edge. The release also revealed that she met with Farrell when the actor joined the band in 2015. Kelly has a degree from London’s Cass Business School. Colin first spoke publicly about his relationship with Kelly when he appeared with Ellen to promote his 2017 film The Killing of a Sacred Deer.
Colin Farrell is the father of two sons of separated women. His relationship with Kim Bordenave produced a son named James Padraig, born in 2003 at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Four years after the birth of his son, Farrell revealed that he had been diagnosed with Angelman syndrome. The syndrome is a rare genetic disorder that affects the nervous system and delays physical and intellectual development. It also causes speech problems and results in the victim having often excitable behavior. Farrell’s son did not start speaking until he was 6 years old, as he revealed when he appeared on Good Morning America in September 2017.
Farrell’s second son, Henry Tadeusz, born on October 9, 2009, comes from his relationship with Polish actress Alicja Bachleda-Curus.
