The American professional basketball player Lindsay Whalen is currently conducting her business with the Minnesota Lynx of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) as a point guard. She is also the head coach of the University of Minnesota women’s basketball team.

During her professional career from 2004 to the present, Whalen has won four WNBA titles with the Lynx, as well as world and Olympic titles with the United States women’s national basketball team. Basketball Career

Lindsay Whalen began her career in football from high school in her birthplace. During these years she excelled not only in basketball but also in tennis and athletics.

Whalen was a four-time All-Missota Conference Election and a four-time honorable mention of the All-State Basketball Team. As a junior, she averaged 22.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.3 assists and later won a state title. With her club team, the Minnesota Jaguars, she was placed 13th on the national level.

The University of Minnesota’s women’s basketball program became famous during Whalen’s college career when she became the school’s top scorer in January 2004. It was also a time when attendance at women’s basketball games was growing rapidly.

That same year, she was selected in the first draft of the WNBA by Connecticut Sun and remained the top draft player in the Big Ten Conference until 2015. She was named WNBA All-Star for the fifth time in her career, with an average of 10.9 points per game and 4.3 assists per game.

Her legacy in women’s basketball to date includes two-time Wade Trophy finalist (2003, 2004) and two-time Naismith Prize finalist (2003, 2004); Kodak All-American First Team in her senior year; inclusion on the USBWA All-American Second Team and AP All-American Second Team.

Because of her ability, Lindsay Whalen soon became the first Golden Gopher to receive All-American honors in three different seasons. To top it all off, she also led Minnesota to its first appearance in the Final Four in 2004 – the program had only participated in the tournament once before she joined the team.

Whalen was an Academic All-Big Ten for three consecutive years from 2002 to 2004 and won the Fast Break Club Award in 2004 and 2002. In 2005, the University of Minnesota withdrew its number 13 jersey at a ceremony at the Williams Arena. She has played internationally in Russia, Turkey, and the Czech Republic.

With the legacy of a five-time All-WNBA scorer, Lindsay Whalen was named head coach of the University of Minnesota women’s basketball team on April 12, 2018. She continues to play basketball for the Lynx while fulfilling her coaching duties.
