The baseball star was born David Taylor Price on August 26, 1985, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee in the United States. He was born the son of African-American parents Debbie Price and her wife Bonnie Price. David developed a keen interest in baseball at a very young age and became an outstanding player on the baseball and basketball teams at Backman High School. During his high school years Price won the Rutherford County Male Athlete of the Year three times in a row. In 2003 and 2004 he was honored with the Rutherford MVP Pitcher Award.
