George R R Martin: Bio
The writer was born George Raymond Martin on September 20, 1948, in Bayonne, New Jersey. The second “R” in his name, Richard, came later when he was confirmed as a Catholic. He was of German, French, Irish and English descent and was raised, along with two sisters, by his mother Margaret and father Raymond Collins Martins.
Martins and his two younger sisters, Darleen and Janet, grew up in a very poor family that found it difficult to offer them decent accommodation at some point.
Like many great writers you know, George R. R. Martins began writing when he was young, and by the age of 21, he had already achieved a career as a writer. For his education, the writer, who would later fascinate many, attended Mary Jane Donohoe School, from where he transferred to Marist High School. He then went on to earn a degree in journalism at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, and then earned a master’s degree at the same institution.
After completing his training at a time when the Vietnam War was raging, he served as a volunteer with VISTA. At the same time, he became both a teacher and a chess director. The interesting thing is that it was his work, especially with chess, that would help him as a writer because, as he emphasized, it gave him the time to work on his writings.

George R R Martin As A Writer
Martins began his nearly 50 years of lasting literary career with short stories before he expanded more and more. The author of “Game of Thrones” began selling his works in his early twenties, but only much later did he make a full-time career as a writer, as he was unable to pay his bills in the earliest days.
Among his most popular works is the series A Song of Ice and Fire. Works in this series include A Game of Thrones (1996), A Clash of Kings (1998), A Storm of Swords (2000), A Feast for Crows (2005), and A Dance with Dragons (2011). Other works from the series that have not yet been released include The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring.
The extraordinary writer George R. R. Martins wishes that, in the event of his death, all the works he did not complete would be destroyed. This is simply because he does not want anyone to complete his works for him.
Apart from the fact that his works have been adapted for great films, he has won many prizes and published more than 40 works, including short stories, novels, collections of quotations, novels, and much more. Among the awards, he has won so far are the nearly 10 Hugo Awards, the Primetime Emmy Award, and the Nebula Awards.
Wife, Does He Have Children?
George has been married twice in his life. His first marriage was to Gale Burnick and that was in 1975. Before meeting and marrying Gale Burnick, he also dated another writer, Lisa Tuttle, for some time. His marriage to Bridge Over Troubled Waters as a wedding song did not last long, as it ended only 4 years later in 1979.
After his marriage to Gale Burnick failed, he would marry Parris McBride in 2011. The two met in 1975, but it was not until the 1980s that they began to meet. Before they decided to marry, the two had lived together for many years.

It will be very interesting to note that George has no children with his first wife, Gale Burnick, and Parris McBride, who was his partner for a long time before he settled down as man and wife. In fact, he has never had children in his life.
Together with his wife, Parris McBride, George now lives in New Mexico, where he has lived for a long time.
