The amazing singer was born on December 8, 1979, as Ingrid Ellen Michaelson in New York City. She was born from her Swedish-American parents Carl Michaelson and his wife Elizabeth Egbert. Her father is a famous classical music composer who also worked as a copyright manager for the music publisher Carl Fischer Music, while her mother is a sculptor.

2. She Took Up Piano at the Age of Four

Born into a family of artists, Ingrid developed a keen interest in theater at a very young age. She received her first piano lessons at the age of four, and at seven she went to the Third Street Music School, where she met the singing teacher Elizabeth McCullough. McCullough looked after Ingrid throughout her school years and taught her the basics of music. She graduated from Staten Island Technical High School.
