Ravi Patel is an American actor, writer, and director of Indian descent, known for his roles in Transformers (2007), Meet the Patels (2014), and Master of None (2015), among others.
Patel began acting after appearing in a number of national commercials. He was also a presenter, famous for his improvised stand-up acts during moderations. However, the Illinois-born American became famous after making his first television appearance on the CW network’s Easy Money program as George Patil.

Ravi Patel was born on December 18, 1978, as Ravi Vasant Patel in Freeport, the county seat and largest town in Stephenson County, Illinois. He is the second of Vasant and Champa Patel’s two children.
The Patel family was a modest middle-class family, with Ravi’s father, Vasant, working as a financial consultant, while his mother, Champa, worked as a real estate agent.
Although he was born in Illinois, Ravi Patel grew up in the most populous city in North Carolina, Charlotte. He attended Myers Park High School before studying economics and international studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2001.
After graduating, Patel moved to Los Angeles, where he became an investment banker. There he co-founded This Bar Saves Lives, a nutrition company that produces gluten-free snack bars without genetically modified organisms. The company, as its name suggests, is also a charitable organization, as with every snack bar sold, it donates a food package to a needy child. Patel is also co-founder of the poker magazine All In.

While he ran his company, Patel had been given work as a moderator. His improvised stand-up comedy act at a gig led to him being invited to audition and signed to a major Hollywood agency. This particular performance led to him becoming something of a star in the advertising/advertising industry, appearing in more than two dozen commercials in one year.
Patel switched from commercial production to acting in television series and movies, making his first appearance in the 2006 Philadelphia film Boys & Girls Guide To Getting Down and It’s Always Sunny.
Between 2008 and 2009, Patel appeared as George Patil on the CW Television Network’s Easy Money program. This was around the same time he appeared in the 2007 Sci-Fi Transformers and the medical comedy Scrubs. Until 2010 he was given the lead role in the FOX Network show Past Life.
In 2014, Ravi Patel worked with his sister to make an autobiographical documentary called Meet the Patels. The film, which won the Audience Award at the 2014 Los Angeles Film Festival, documented Ravi Patel’s journey in search of an Indian wife.
Since “Meet the Patels”, which will have a narrative remake, Patel has worked with Aziz Ansari in “Master of None” and John Stamos in “Grandfathered”.

Ravi Patel is actually married. He married the actress Mahaley Hessam, who is best known for her roles in the movies Easy A, The DUFF, and others. The ceremony took place on May 7, 2016. Hessam, now known as Mahaley Patel, was born in Atlanta, Georgia, to Afghan immigrant parents.
She attended Emory University in Atlanta before moving to Los Angeles, California, where she enrolled at UCLA. It was during her time at the University of California, Los Angeles, that she made her big breakthrough in the film Easy A.

Ravi Patel has a sister named Geeta Patel. Geeta, who now works as a film author and director, is a graduate of Duke University, where she studied Comparative Area Studies. She began her career as a screenwriter and worked for studios such as Disney and Twentieth Century Fox.
Together with her brother, Geeta wrote and directed “Meet the Patels”. Other projects she directed include episodes of Survivor’s Remorse, The Mindy Project, Superstore, Fresh Off the Boat, and Speechless.
