The Englishman Sir Michael Philip Jagger (popularly known as Mick Jagger) is a songwriter, singer, actor, and film producer. He gained popularity as one of the founding members and lead singer of “Rolling Stone” – a rock band founded in London in 1962.

The rock and roll legend was christened Michael Philip Jagger at birth and was born on July 26, 1943, in Dartford, Kent, England. Jagger is of both English and Australian descent. His father, Basil Fanshawe “Joe” Jagger, was a teacher of English descent, while his mother, Eva Ensley Mary, who was of both Australian and English descent, was a hairdresser and member of the British Conservative Party. Mick’s only known sibling is his younger brother and fellow musician Chris Jagger.

In 1950 Jagger was enrolled at Wentworth Primary School in Dartford. Shortly after passing the “11-plus” exam in 1954, he was accepted into Dartford Grammar School, where he graduated with 7 O levels and 3 A levels in 1961. Afterward, Mick continued his education at the London School of Economics with the help of his government scholarship. Later, in 1963, he broke off his education to realize his childhood dream of becoming a pop star.
Young Michael was brought up dragging his father’s and grandfather’s teaching career with him, but he had a lively interest in music, especially in R n B, which was awakened by always listening to the American musician Richard Wayne Penniman, popularly known as Little Richard. In 1961 Jagger met his English musician colleague and guitarist Lewis Brian Jones, and together with Keith Richards they moved to London and shared an apartment in Edith Grove, Chelsea. The trio formed the music group “Rolling Stones” shortly after they started practicing together. The name of the band was inspired by a song by Muddy Waters called “Rollin’ Stone”.

He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth at her birthday celebrations in 2002 and honored by Prince Charles with “the accolade” in 2003.
