Some of us live for the NFL, and guys like Stefon Diggs are the reason why we can’t get enough of the National Football League version of the sport on the sidelines. Since Diggs joined the Purple People Eaters, he’s done enough phenomenal performances to convince the team from Minneapolis, Minnesota that he’s a wide receiver to keep.
On July 31, 2018, the Purple and Gold team presented Mr. Diggs with another contract that would extend his stay with the team. As we have learned, this was a five-year contract worth $72 million. The contract, which will be signed next year, would earn Stefon up to $14 million per season. It also included a $15 million bonus when the contract was signed.
Nobody would say that the Wide Receiver is not worthy of the contract, he deserved it very well, because his three years with the Vikes were very productive. He started in 34 of the 40 games he played and boasted 15 touchdowns, 200 receptions, and 2,472 receiver yards. This made him the fastest wide receiver in the Vikes, reaching 200 receptions.
Stefon Diggs Bio (Age)
It is a common belief that this wide receiver would break down so many walls in the NFL world. Apart from his talent for the game, this is because age would not be his enemy. The footballer was born on 29 November 1993, after which he was named Stefon Mar’Sean Diggs. His birthplace was Gaithersburg, Maryland, where he also grew up with his siblings.
As far as we can tell, Diggs has always been a sportsman. During his high school days in Our Lady Of Good Counsel in Olney, Maryland, he excelled both as a sprinter and as a footballer. Although he competed in several athletics competitions and performed remarkably well, it was his achievements as a footballer that earned him much of the attention he enjoyed.
As a junior, he scored 23 touchdowns, 810 receiving yards, and eventually won second place for the Gatorade Maryland Player of the Year. Diggs continued to cultivate his passion for the game, and in his senior year, he was able to accomplish even more. He not only scored 8 touchdowns but also piled up 277 running yards and 770 receiving yards. His outstanding performances led to him being classified as a five-star recruit on various platforms and much talked about him being the best player and wide receiver among his fellow players in the nation. As such, Stefon Diggs received an invitation to participate in the 2012 U.S. Army All-American Bowl and was previously (in 2011) crowned All-American Junior Combine MVP of the U.S. Army. That’s not all, the lad also received a handful of other prestigious awards.
Stefon didn’t fall behind when he joined the Terrapins football team at the University of Maryland. In recognition of the scholarship he received from the institution, he joined the Terrapins University of Maryland team from 2012 to 2014. For his numerous achievements with the team, he was appointed to the second team of the All-Big Ten in 2014. After his remarkable youth season, Stefon gave up his college career and joined the NFL draft for 2015. There he was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings as the 146th overall candidate in the 5th round; a decision with which the Vikings and their fans are still very happy.
His Brother and Family
The parents of the Minnesota Vikings’ wide receiver are Aron and Stephanie Diggs. Stefon is the oldest of their three sons and now serves as the father figure of the family. As luck would have it, his father Aron died in 2008 after suffering from heart failure.
Although we can’t tell you what’s going on with his mother Stephanie at the moment, it’s common knowledge that Stefon’s brothers Darez and Trevon are preparing for the storm on the NFL just like their brother. While Darez, born in 1995, plays blazers for the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Trevor, born in 1998, is at the University of Alabama’s Crimson Tide.
