Georgie Henley is an English actress known for her role as Lucy Pevensie in the blockbuster film sequel The Chronicles of Narnia. After an impressive first outing, Georgie was also involved in the sequels of the sequel.
Since her breakthrough into the big league as a child star, Georgie occasionally lends her voice to the increasing pressure that child stars are exposed to.
Who Is Georgie Henley?
Georgie was born on 9 July 1995 as the son of Helen Henley and Mike Henley in a small town in West Yorkshire called Ilkley. Georgie attended Moorfield School before moving to Bradford Grammar School.
As a young school child, Georgie was already a member of a local theatre group called The Upstagers. Their group performed plays like Babushka: A Christmas Story, The Pied Piper to a local audience. Georgie definitely acted with passion, but she was hardly aware that she was unconsciously preparing for an opportunity on the big screen.
He was looking for young children for his new project, Pipa Hall, (Casting Director for The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe) in Georgie Henley’s town, and once he had seen Georgie, he was sure that she needed to be given a chance.
Before she got the role of Lucy, she had to go through an 18-month casting process. Georgie Henley owed her role in “The Chronicles of Narnia” to her acting teacher at Moorfield School, who began mentoring her.
At some point during the 18-month casting session, her parents became skeptical about letting their eight-year-old daughter become an actress, as this could have a corrupting influence on her. Georgie, the last of three daughters, recalls that her older sisters (Rachel and Laura) did their best to convince her parents to let her act.
There is a longstanding debate about the superiority of stage actors over film actors. This may be due to the high level of concentration required to create a stage performance. Be that as it may, Georgie Henley’s impressive performance in the Chronicles of Narnia seems to be a testament to the extravagant stage experience that an actress is given.
Georgie Henley finally made her debut in the 2005 film The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, which remains her greatest film of all time. The film brought in over 745 million dollars worldwide.
Georgie’s appearance in The Chronicles of Narnia in 2005 led to her role being performed again in the upcoming sequels of The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian in 2008, and also in the sequel to The Chronicles of Narnia in 2010: The Dawn Strider’s Journey.
The sequel to The Chronicles of Narnia served as a platform for her to play other roles, including in Bradford High School’s production of “We Will Rock You”, which was broadcast from 13-16 March 2013.
Georgie Henley also appeared in 2006 in “Jane Eyre”, “Perfect Sisters”, a story based on two sisters who killed their mother; the film was released in 2014. Georgie Henley attended Cambridge University, where she appeared in numerous plays, including Anthony Burgess’ The Trojan Woman, Play It Again by Sam Woody, to name but a few.
Henley began her career as a director in 2015 when she began writing and directing her first short film called TIDE. The actress comes from a deeply religious, Christian family.
She won the 2008 Nickelodeon UK Kids Choice Awards and was nominated for Best Performance in a Feature Film – Young Ensemble Cast for her performance in The Chronicles of Narnia.
