Aphex Twin Biography
Although he is very popular as Aphex Twin, the musician was born on August 18, 1971, as Richard David James in Limerick, Ireland. However, he grew up in the county of Cornwall in southwest England in the United Kingdom.
Both his parents, Lorna James and Derek James, are Welsh and they raised him together with his two older sisters in a very happy home. He also had an older brother, also named Richard James, who died at birth. It is in his honor that the singer included the name Twin in his stage name.
His love for music has lasted since his youth, and it is thanks to him that he started producing music at the age of 12. Before that, he bought several albums and experimented on the family piano. He received his education at Redruth, Cornwell from the Redruth School. While there, he developed a program that allowed him to create a sound on the Sinclair ZX81 that normally has no sound.
While he continued to work on his music, Aphex Twin founded Rephlex Records with Grant Wilson-Claridge. He started his career as AFX – a name he used over and over again throughout the year. In 1991 Aphex released his first EP Analogue Bubblebath Vol I under the name AFX. Analog Bubblebath Vol 2 followed in the same year.
As Aphex Twin he released his first studio album Selected Ambient Works 85-92 in 1992, in the same year he released his EPs Digeridoo and Xylem Tube.
A very hard-working musician, he has already released 10 studio albums, 7 compilation albums, and 41 extended tracks. His last album, Syro, was released in 2014, while his last EP, Collapse, was released in 2018.
Aphex Twin is a family man. He is married to Anastasia Rybina. Like the singer, very little is known about his wife, because she is also quite mysterious. It is not known how long the two have been together, but it is known that they are blessed with children.
His children are still very young, but they have already started to be interested in music. One of his children, who is only five years old, already has a Bandcamp site where he has published some music he did with Renoise. According to the father, the child does things that he finds very hard to believe with music, although he has only taught him how to record his voice and other small things.
In the run-up to the release of Syro, the electronic singer revealed that his wife, parents, and children can all be heard on the album, although it is hard to tell because their voices are all masked.
