Daniel James Amendola was born on November 2, 1985, the son of Willie Amendola (father) and Rose Amendola (mother) and has as an older sibling Matt Amendola, who played for Baylor University College football.
Danny was taught at The Woodlands High School in The Woodlands, Texas, where his footballing skills were nurtured by coach Weldon Willig. The boy led his high school team to their first Texas State Championship game, despite losing to North Shore High School. Danny finished his last season in high school with 1,045 receiving yards, 129 rush yards, and 8 superb touchdowns.
The Lone Star State boy began his college career in 2004 at Texas Tech University, where he majored in Communications. His best college season turned out to be his senior year, in which he made 109 catches on 1,245 yards with a total of 6 touchdowns. Cumulatively, he recorded 204 catches on 2,246 yards with 15 touchdowns during his college career. However, Danny Amendola did not graduate from Texas Tech because he was eager to train for the NFL Combine.

Conversely, he was not drafted because he had to join the Dallas Cowboys as an unconscripted free agent on April 27, 2008. He then found it difficult to find a place on the team, as he spent the entire 2008 season in the team’s training squad without doing any sports in pigskin. At the end of his one-year contract, he signed a contract with the Philadelphia Eagles and made it into the team’s training squad on January 6, 2009. He was repeatedly kicked out of the training squad and once again saw no action, so he went to the St. Louis Rams to save his career.
At the Rams, Danny Amendola saw some action for the first time in the 2009 NFL season. He started 10 games in the 2010 season, which was an improvement over 2 games in the preseason. He also led the league in the all-purpose yards with a total of 2,364, 689 yards in 85 fine receptions, 81 yards in 7 rushing attempts, which he did with 1,142 yards in 50 kickoff returns.
