Marin Hinkle is an American actress born in Tanzania who is popular as Judith Harper-Melnick in the CBS sitcom Two and a Half Men.

Marin Elizabeth Hinkle was born on March 23, 1966, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, the child of American parents (Margaret R. and Rodney Hinkle) who was serving in the Peace Corps at the time.
Her father is American and her mother is of Italian and Scandinavian descent.
Her parents moved to Boston, Massachusetts, when Hinkle was just four months old. Her mother is currently a judge on the Massachusetts Supreme Court, and her father is a dean and college teacher.
Hinkle attended Newton South High School and is a graduate of Brown University and the Graduate Acting Program of New York University at the Tisch School of the Arts.
Career
Marin Hinkle originally wanted to become a professional ballerina but had to give up this dream and turn to act after an ankle injury at the age of 16. However, before turning to act, she worked for KFDA-TV (a CBS-affiliated television station with a license for Amarillo) from 1990-1994.

Her acting career began in 1994 when she played Juliet in Romeo and Juliet at the Lansburgh Theatre in Washington DC. She also played the role of Kuroko and was an understudy for Miranda in The Tempest, which ran at Broadhurst Theatre from November to December 1995.
From July to August 1996 she appeared as Sandra Markowitz in Thousand Clowns and as Chrysothemis in Electra. She made her first television debut in the soap opera Another World.
Hinkle celebrated her first big success in 1999 when she appeared as Judy Brooks in the series Once and Again. The series focuses on a divorced father and a soon-to-be-divorced mother who fell in love and began a romantic relationship that is repeatedly disturbed and complicated not only by their life problems but also by their children.
This was followed by their second big hit Two and a Half Men, in which she played the leading role alongside Ashton Kutcher. Charlie Sheen, Angus T. Jones, and Jon Cryer in the role of Judith Harper-Melnick.
She appeared in a total of 83 episodes but was gradually removed from the series before she was finally hired, probably due to her engagement for her new role as Samantha Bowers in the NBC drama series Deception.
Marin Hinkle has also appeared in several films including Dark Blue, Frequency, I Am Sam, The Next Big Thing, Chocolate for breakfast, Killing Cinderella, I’m Not Rappaport, and many others.
In 2005 Hinkle was on stage again, this time as Miss Julie, in the play Miss Julie. In 2008 she played the lead role in The Haunting of Molly Hartley and Quarantine. She also had several guest appearances in Law & Order, Without a Trace, Spin City, House, ER.
