The man behind it is Nathan Fielder – a Canadian comedian and writer who became famous thanks to the show.

The comedian was born on May 12, 1983, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, as Nathan Joseph Fielder. Both parents, Eric and Deb Fielder, of Jewish descent, were social workers.
Growing up in Vancouver, he has always had an interest in performance and comedy, so he borrowed his mother’s voice recorder to record comedies and later rewind and memorize them. Because he was so obsessed with comedy performances, the young Fielder thought up scripts for sitcoms that he imagined.

He went to Point Grey Secondary School for his education. There he was active in the school’s comedy group as well as in its music theater.
