The actress Samaire Rhys Armstrong was born in Tokyo, Japan, on October 31, 1980, from a Scottish father, Hunter Armstrong, who gave close combat training to soldiers, and an Italian mother, Sylvia Sepielli, who designs spas for resorts.

She spent part of her early years in Japan, where she lived for five years before moving to Hawaii. Samaire has also lived in several other Asian countries such as Malaysia and China. However, she grew up in Sedona, Arizona, where she attended Sedona Red Rock High School. During her time at the high school, she played volleyball for two years and was an MVP before she focused on acting and was cast in almost every production at her school.

Samaire has acted in both television shows and films. She made her acting debut as Meredith on television in 2000 in an episode of the Fox drama Party of Five. Guest roles in high-profile television shows such as The X-Files, ER, Judging Amy, and Freaks and Geeks followed. However, she became famous for her role in the Fox teen drama television series The O.C., in which she portrayed Anna Stern in 2003.

She can go to Bikram Yoga at 6:30 in the morning for three months and then go hiking every afternoon for the next three months. Pilates would come next, and then the others could follow.
