Steven Adams has the honor of being the first man from his rugby-loving country to be selected in the first round of an NBA draft. The New Zealander, who analysts say is approaching the best player in his position in the league, is known for using his brute strength and impeccable positioning instinct to inflict damage on the offense while contributing to the defensive portion of the game.

Steven Adams Biography

Steven Adams was born on July 20, 1993, in Rotura, New Zealand, the son of Lilika Ngauamo, a mother from Tongao, and Sidney Adams, an English father born in Bristol. He began playing basketball as a teenager after his older brother introduced him to the sport and placed him under the tutelage of Wellington basketball legend Kenny McFadden. Adams had played a little truant in the past but was able to concentrate on school and sports when he entered McFadden’s academy.

Adams attended Scots College and graduated in 2011. During this time, he played for New Zealand’s national basketball team, Wellington Saints, where he averaged 5.5 points and 4.1 rebounds per game in 15 games to be crowned “Rookie of the Year” of the league when his team won the championship.

After his successes in the Kiwi League, Adams moved to the United States to enroll for a semester at Notre Dame Preparatory School before finally transferring to the University of Pittsburgh in 2012. Adams did this to get an orientation on what NCAA basketball would feel like, as the game in the States was different from what it was like at home.

Steven Adams played one season of college basketball, averaging 7.2 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks per game in 32 games, earning the honor of the Big East All-Rookie team before being declared for the 2013 NBA Draft, where he was selected by Oklahoma City Thunder with the 12th overall pick.

Steven Adams’ Family – Sister, Siblings

Thanks to the high fertility of his father, Steven Adams has a total of 17 siblings, although some local New Zealand reports suggest that the number could be much higher. It has been reported that some of Adams’ siblings did not know themselves until their father died and that they discovered each other at his funeral because although some of the women who had his children were at some point legally married to him or living with him, the others were not.

Although he was not able to take care of all his children, the towering former Royal Navy sailor, who was said to be between 6’2″ and 6’3″ tall, left his children genes that have made them famous in their home country and remarkable personalities in their sporting activities. All Adams children have outstanding athletic ability, a strong work ethic, and gigantic height, with the average male girth being 6 feet 9 inches and the female girth 6 feet 0 inches.

The most successful of these is Adams’ older sister, Valerie, who has won two Olympic gold medals, three Commonwealth Games championships, four World Championships, four Indoor World Championships, and two IAAF Holiday Cup titles, as well as numerous other awards in Shot Put, making her one of the greatest women in the sport. Two of her other siblings, Warren and Sidney Jr., have had successful careers in the New Zealand National Basketball League.

Does He have a Wife or Girlfriend?

Steven Adams has shown no signs of following in his father’s footsteps to spread his genes far and wide, as Rotura, who was born in New Zealand, has so far been associated with only one woman, Ezel Kokcu, who is an Internet entrepreneur. It is not clear when exactly the couple started dating, and due to their busy schedules, they are not often seen together. But if the reports are to be believed, the couple is said to be deeply in love with each other and are working hard to make their relationship work.

Mrs. Kokcu, who is supposed to be the same age as her husband, moved with her family from Turkey to New Zealand as a child. She attended Victoria University Wellington to study computer science before co-founding her first start-up company, STQRY. Since then she has created two other start-ups: a ticketing platform for venues and shows called Non-Stop Tix and a ticket management and analysis system called Passphere.
