It is a known fact that Rick Moranis had his foretaste of success in the 1980s when he played a lead role in Second City Television – a well-known Canadian sketch comedy series. He was cast with his friend Thomas Dave as one of the “McKenzie Brothers”, and their humorous portrayal of stereotypical Canadian men earned them great popularity with both Canadian and American audiences.

The actor, musician, songwriter, comedian, producer, and screenwriter took advantage of his new-found fame and subsequently got several leading roles in comic films from Hollywood. With films like “Parenthood”, “Ghostbusters”, “Flintstones” and “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” he created a niche for himself in the industry. He has lent his voice to several well-known Disney characters as a narrator. And as a singer he has sung songs like The Agoraphobic Cowboy, You, Me, the Music and Me, My Mother’s Brisket, and many others.

Their union, which lasted over four years, produced two children before Ann lost the fight against breast cancer in 1991. It was blatantly obvious that the Hollywood actor would do anything for his wife, as he was supposed to play the role of Phil in City Slickers in 1991, but decided to retire before filming began because of his wife’s terminal illness. Rick was replaced at the last moment by Daniel Stern.

The actor and musician have been very reclusive in matters concerning his children. He protects them so much that he had to give up his lucrative career in the entertainment industry to take care of them personally after the death of his wife. Rick Moranis even jealously guards his children’s names, and he never lets anything slip in an interview.

What Happened To Rick Moranis?

After the death of his wife in 1991, Rick Moranis found it difficult to combine the job of a single parent with his acting career, which often required extensive travel and long absence from home, so he consciously decided to take a short break from active entertainment. So it happened that the planned short break turned into a long one and he suddenly realized that he didn’t even miss it. According to the actor with the short stature and the omnipresent large glasses, he did not completely withdraw from active acting, he is just a little choosy about the roles he will take on in the future.

Rick Moranis appeared in 2017 in retaliation for his bob and Doug character with his co-star Dave Thomas. The proceeds of this reprisal, which took place at a benefit concert in Toronto, were to be used to care for Thomas’ nephew Jake Thomas, who is paralyzed from the waist down due to a spinal cord injury he suffered. In May 2018, the celebrity actor returned to the Goldbergs and played the role of Dark Helmet, although it was only a voice-over. Also in May 2018, it was announced that he will be featured in the documentary about the reunification of Second City TV (SCTV), directed by Martin Scorsese. The show is scheduled to premiere on Netflix in 2019.

Net Worth

Although he was absent from the entertainment industry for a very long time, Rick Moranis still managed to accumulate a healthy net worth of $10 million. His wealth came mainly from his acting career, but his magic as a singer contributed to his already wealthy net worth. We have reason to believe that this is not the last we will hear from the famous actor and singer, as he is gradually returning to the entertainment industry after his long break. Perhaps the next review of his net worth will probably show some appreciation.
