He was born Ronald Eugene Rivera on 7 January 1962 in Fort Ord, California. He grew up in different places, as his father, Eugenio Rivera, was a military officer, and therefore had to move from place to place whenever he was transferred.
For his education, he spent his early days in various places, including Germany, Panama, and the United States. Nevertheless, the family later settled in California, where he attended Seaside High School and graduated. By the time he graduated, his talent had helped him to get a scholarship to the University of California at Berkeley.
As for his ethnic background, he is of Puerto Rican descent, even though he is an American by nationality. He grew up with 3 other brothers. There was also his brother Mickey, who he lost to cancer in 2015.
What would put Ron Rivera in the spotlight is, as I said, his activities in football, which began before he went to college. After a very successful college football career, he was selected by the Chicago Bears in the 1984 Draft of the Year in the NFL.
