Although you may not immediately recognize the name Zach McGowan, the actor has been in the entertainment industry for over a decade. The handsome actor has had several appearances in numerous television series and films, but his groundbreaking role came on the set of the comedy-drama television series Shameless, where he played the character – Jody. Zachary Brendan McGowan was born on May 5, 1980, in New York City. His mother Brenda McGowan is of Russian Jewish descent, his father Vincent McGowan is of Irish descent, while his pedigree is rooted in Ireland. His mother worked as an employee of United States Airlines, which meant that the McGowan family was constantly on the move. Zach grew up with his two older brothers Matt and Doug McGowan.

He attended Ethical Culture Fieldston School from his kindergarten days until his final year of high school. Zach McGowan became part of the cast of the Showtime drama “Shameless” in mid-2011. He portrayed Jody Silverman, a tattoo artist and recovering sex addict. His character was upgraded from a recurring character to a regular in the 3rd season of the show.
In 2013 he played the role of Shkelgim, a mysterious Romani in the movie Dracula Untold, a feature film from Universal Pictures. In 2104, he joined the cast of Black Sails, an adventure television series on Starz Channel, in which he played a fictional version of Charles Vane – a famous 18th-century pirate. Although the role was intended for an actor of English descent, Zach improvised an English accent during his audition, which helped him get the part. His performance impressed casting directors greatly when it later turned out that Zach was actually faking the English accent.
He then joined the cast of the CW science fiction television series “The 100” in which he played King Roan of the Ice Nation. Zach also played the villain “The Superior” in the ABC television series “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”. Zach is currently part of the television series “LA’s Finest”, which is based on the Bad Boys’ film franchise.
