Brittany had a very active childhood at the side of her twin sister, and among other activities, they started modeling at a young age. At the age of 11, they were signed with the international modeling agency Ford Models, and among other highlights of their career, the twins were featured in the teen magazines Seventeen, YM, and Sassy. They were also featured in an advertising campaign for the chewing gum brand Doublemint. They began acting in 1989 and made their debut with a guest appearance in the sitcom The New Leave It to Beaver. In 1992, Brittany received a regular role as Mila Rosnovsky alongside Sarah Michelle Gellar in the short-lived teen drama series Swans Crossing. This role earned her a nomination for Best Emerging Actress for the Young Artist Award in 1993.
Daniel’s acting breakthrough came in 1994 when she was cast alongside her sister Cynthia as the lead actress in the comedy-drama series Sweet Valley High. Brittany played Jessica “Jess” Wakefield in the role of Jessica “Jess” Wakefield versus the role of her sister Elizabeth “Liz” Wakefield during the series’ highly successful four-year run, and for their brilliant performance, the duo won the Young Artist Award for Best Performance: Young Actress in a TV Comedy Series in 1995. During the run of Sweet Valley High, Brittany Daniel received her first big-screen role in the age drama The Basketball Diaries, in which Leonardo DiCaprio also played the leading role. In 1999 she had a recurring role in the third season of the teen drama series Dawson’s Creek and also appeared in the action movie Sonic Impact. However, after Cynthia achieved several other acting successes, she took a different career path outside of Hollywood. She retired from acting in 1997 to become a photographer. She currently has three children with the film and television actor Cole Hauser, her husband since 2006.
Charlton Bradford Daniel, the father of Brittany Daniel, died in 2008 after a long struggle with cancer. The actress herself was diagnosed with stage IV non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2011. Fortunately, she was declared cancer-free in 2014 after chemotherapy. She worked with her sister Cynthia on a lifestyle blog ‘The Sweet Life’, which they launched in July 2017.
